Blanket Drive
The days are getting shorter, the temperature is dropping. I also noticed that I've had to allow time to warm up my car and scrape the frost from the windows in my car (which reminds me, gotta clean the garage and move some of our summer gears down into the crawl space; or maybe I'll sweet talk Neil into doing it so I can start parking my car in the garage instead of the driveway) every morning before I go to the office. It's that time of the year again... Realtor's Care Blanket Drive time.
Some of you may know that I have been volunteering for the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver & Fraser Valley Real Estate Board's Realtors Care Blanket Drive for the last 4-5 years now. The Blanket Drive is the longest continuous blanket drive in the Lower Mainland which has been running for 15 years now. Myself and my fellow Realtors collect and donate blankets and warm clothing to directly help more than 100,000 people from places between Whistler and Hope. What I personally do is: I put up posters to raise awareness about this cause, I collect bags of warm clothings and blankets and then I drop them of at participating local charities who helps the homeless like Night Shift Ministries in King George Hwy.
If you have any new or slightly used (and clean) warm clothings (coats, jeas, pants, sweaters), blankets, sleeping bags, scarves, gloves, mitts, hats or any new socks and new underwear for women, men & children that you want to donate, please let me know. You can drop them off to local drop-off sites or call me at 604-507-0200.
The actual drive runs from November 28 to December 5. For more information, please visit www.blanketdrive.ca
Here are some pictures from last year's drive - I was 8 months pregnant with Bea at that time.
